SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Pandan terletak di desa hambuku tengah kecamatan sungai pandan Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Utara,tepatnya di jalan Kalinegara Rt.2 No.23 desa Hambuku Tengah..Sekolah ini didirikan pada tanggal 14 Juli 1981.Jarak sekolah ke ibu kota kecamatan sejauh 7,5 km dan jarak sekolah ibu kota kabupaten sejauh 14 km.Sekolah ini merupkan sekolah tipe C dan Berakreditasi B.
